HivePlanner V2 is Here

A complete rebuild of the scheduling system. Faster calendar engine, Job Inspector panel, Pipeline kanban board, recurring jobs, cost tracking per job, job automations, and a native-style mobile experience.

HivePlanner V2 has been in development since the start of 2026 and is now the default scheduling system across HiveSuite. Every link that used to open the classic planner - the sidebar, dashboard, quotes, invoices, timesheets, search results - now opens V2. The classic planner is still accessible for anyone who needs it, but V2 is where everything is headed.

This post covers what's new, what's changed, and what it means in practice.

Rebuilt Calendar Engine

The calendar itself has been rebuilt from the ground up - faster rendering, a sticky toolbar that stays accessible as you scroll, and three new ways to interact with jobs directly on the calendar.

Three Ways to Create & Edit

The calendar now supports a full range of direct interactions - not just drag-and-drop.

  • Drag jobs to reschedule them to a new time slot
  • Drag the bottom edge of a job to change its duration
  • Click and drag across any empty time range to create a new job with start and end times auto-filled

Toolbar & Row Height

The toolbar now sticks to the top of the screen so controls are always within reach.

  • Sticky toolbar - filters, views, and actions always accessible
  • Calendar row height: Compact, Default, Comfortable, or Spacious
  • Manual refresh button (keyboard shortcut: R) - no more polling
  • Tab-focus refresh - calendar updates automatically when you switch back to it

Active Filter Bar

Applied filters are now visible as chips beneath the toolbar so you always know what you're looking at.

  • Filter by status, crew member, job type, or customer
  • Customer dropdown with search for long customer lists
  • "Cancelled" quick-filter shows cancelled jobs and groups recurring series
  • Active chips make it clear which filters are on

Job Inspector Panel

Click any job on the calendar and the full Job Inspector opens without navigating away. On desktop it pins to the right side of the screen and stays in place as you scroll. On mobile it slides up from the bottom like a native app sheet.

Everything in One Panel

The Inspector consolidates all job information into a single view - no more jumping between pages.

  • Full job details, timeline, and status
  • Cost lines and profitability summary
  • Parts and materials from inventory
  • Customer files with one-click download
  • Compliance certificates issued for the job
  • Complete activity feed including crew check-ins with GPS links

Inline Editing

Edit crew assignments and internal notes directly inside the Inspector without opening a separate form.

  • Inline crew picker with conflict warnings
  • Internal notes saved immediately
  • Timeline notes editable by their author
  • File attachments on activity updates (up to 10 files, 10 MB each)

Job Tools

A "Job Tools" dropdown in the Inspector footer gives one-click access to related workflows - all pre-loaded with the current job context.

Pipeline Board

A new "Pipeline" button in the toolbar switches from the calendar view to a kanban board showing every job grouped by status. Custom job statuses appear as their own columns automatically.

Status Columns

The board is driven by your configured job statuses - if you've set up custom statuses, they appear as columns automatically.

  • All jobs shown across status columns
  • Overdue jobs highlighted in red
  • Click any card to jump the calendar to that job's date and open the Inspector
  • Mobile: columns collapse into an accordion

Drag to Change Status

Drag job cards between columns to update their status without opening the job form.

  • Drag cards to any status column
  • Confirmation prompt when moving to Complete or Cancelled
  • Changes save immediately

Recurring Jobs

Jobs can now be set to repeat on a schedule. Future occurrences are generated automatically, and the series is easy to manage - edit just one job, this and all future, or the entire series at once.

Repeat Schedules

Set up recurring jobs with flexible repeat options and end conditions.

  • Daily, weekly, fortnightly, or monthly repeats
  • Weekday-only option for daily repeats
  • End by date, fixed number of occurrences, or run indefinitely
  • First occurrence starts on the booked date
  • Small repeat icon on calendar events shows series membership

Series Management

When editing or cancelling a recurring job, choose the scope of the change.

  • Update just this occurrence
  • Update this and all future occurrences
  • Update the entire series
  • "Cancel series" cancels all upcoming jobs without affecting past or in-progress ones
  • Human-readable recurrence summary on each job ("Every 2 weeks", "Daily (weekdays only)")

Cost Tracking & Profitability

Jobs now have a dedicated cost tracking section. Add cost lines as you go, and see a live Revenue, Costs, and Margin summary - all without leaving the Inspector.

Job Cost Lines

Record costs against any job with a simple description and amount.

  • Add cost lines with description and amount
  • Running total updates as you add or remove lines
  • Delete individual cost lines

Profitability Summary

Revenue is pulled from linked invoices. Margin updates live as cost lines are added.

  • Revenue, Costs, and Margin shown together
  • Margin shown in green when positive, red when negative
  • Revenue sourced automatically from linked invoices

Job Requests Panel

Customers can submit job requests through the Customer Portal. V2 adds a dedicated Requests panel in the planner toolbar where you can review, approve, or decline them without leaving the scheduler.

Review & Approve

Pending requests show a badge count on the Requests button so nothing gets missed.

  • All pending customer requests in one panel
  • Approve with pre-filled customer, date, time, and description
  • Decline with an optional reason sent back to the customer
  • Badge count on the button for unreviewed requests

Job Automations

Attach reminder rules directly to individual jobs from within the Inspector. Set who gets notified and when - without needing to set up platform-wide automation rules.

Reminder Rules

Two reminder types available per job, with flexible notification targeting.

  • Job End Reminder - trigger N days before the job ends
  • Invoice Reminder - trigger N days before a due date
  • Notify assigned crew, all admins, or specific users
  • Optional email notification alongside in-app alert

Crew Scheduling Improvements

Assigning crew to jobs has been overhauled. Conflict detection is now inline and specific. Nearby crew suggestions help you pick the right person for jobs based on location.

Inline Conflict Warnings

Conflict warnings appear as you assign crew - showing exactly who clashes and which job they're already on.

  • Named crew member and conflicting job shown in the warning
  • Warnings appear in real time during assignment
  • Crew conflicts re-evaluated after editing

Nearby Crew Suggestions

When a job has an address, HivePlanner suggests the 5 closest crew members based on geocoded location and last known position.

  • Distance shown for each suggested crew member
  • Current status shown alongside each suggestion
  • One tap to add them to the job

More Notable Additions

Print Job Sheet

A "Print Job Sheet" button in the Inspector generates a clean A4 PDF with your company logo, job details, schedule, assigned crew, costs, and recent updates. Useful for site handovers and job packs.

Duplicate Job

Copy any job with a single click. The duplicate is created with all the same details and the dates shifted one week forward automatically.

Deep Linking

URLs with a job ID, customer ID, quotation ID, or specific date now open V2 directly with the right job or date in view. Bookmarks and shared links work correctly.

Address Improvements

Add new addresses without leaving the job form. Multi-address customers get a dropdown selector on jobs, quotes, and invoices. County picker covers all of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

Guided Tour

A help button in the toolbar starts a quick guided tour covering the calendar views, filter bar, Pipeline board, job requests, and job creation. Runs automatically the first time you open V2.

Reliability Fixes

Crew assignments that were silently dropped on job update are fixed. Calendar now refreshes when the Inspector closes. Recurring series weekend-skip and stop-after-N bugs resolved.
